Nikolay Vyahhi
I'm working in the Pavel Pevzner's Algorithmic Biology Lab in St. Petersburg, Russia.
We're developing cool algorithms & software for genome assembly.
Currenlty we challenge bacterial single-cell next-generation sequencing data with highly non-uniform coverage.
The software is released to open-source in April 2012, see our latest paper in the Journal of Computational Biology.
Current Projects
Past Projects:
- Python teaching @ SPb State University (2010-2011).
- UNIX and scripting languages seminar @ SPb Academic University (2010-2011).
- OpenPals startup — Social network infrastructure based on open standards like OpenID and FOAF. It's decentralized, non-commercial and open-source (2009-2011).
- Supervision of the students' project Genome Query — Web-based Genome Query Engine (@ JetBrains).
Education
I've got my masters' degree with honors from the Deptartment of Software Engineering of SPb State University.
I've also had 3 years of undergraduate studies in Law @ SPbSU Law Faculty (international law major) and 1 year of graduate studies in Mathematical Economics @ SPb HSE. But most I've got is clear understanding that I prefer Bioinformatics and Computer Science.
